Lionesses Sweep Tunisia 3–0 to Maintain Perfect Start.
Cameroon’s women’s volleyball team continued its impressive start at the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Championship in Nairobi with a commanding 3–0 victory over Tunisia on Wednesday, August 26. The defending continental powerhouses won 25–18, 25–17 and 25–23 to take control of Pool C.
The victory came just a day after Cameroon opened its campaign with another straight-sets win, defeating Ghana 3–0. Two matches into the tournament, the Cameroonians have therefore dropped no set and have already secured their place in the quarter-finals.

Against Tunisia, Cameroon established control early and maintained it throughout the match. The first two sets were particularly convincing, while Tunisia pushed harder in the third before Cameroon eventually closed out the contest 25–23.
The result strengthens Cameroon’s position among the leading contenders for the continental title. The tournament carries additional importance this year, with the champion earning a direct place at the 2028 Olympic Games, while the top three teams will qualify for the 2027 FIVB Volleyball World Cup.
Nigeria Now Stands Between Cameroon and a Perfect Group Stage.
Cameroon’s next assignment is a highly anticipated meeting with Nigeria on Thursday, August 27. The match will conclude Pool C and offers another test for a Cameroonian side that has already demonstrated considerable strength in Nairobi.
Nigeria will enter the encounter with something to prove. The Nigerians lost their opening match 3–1 to Tunisia before recovering to defeat Ghana 3–2 in a dramatic second-round encounter.
That makes the Cameroon-Nigeria clash more than another group match. It brings together two of West and Central Africa’s strongest women’s volleyball programmes, with both teams looking to build momentum heading into the knockout stages.
A Bigger Prize Awaits in Nairobi.
The championship brings together 16 national teams competing from August 25 to September 5, with Cameroon among the established powers of African women’s volleyball.
For Cameroon, the immediate objective is to maintain its unbeaten run and finish the group stage strongly. After two dominant victories, the Lionesses have given themselves an ideal platform for another deep run in the competition.
The 3–0 victory over Tunisia sends a clear warning to the rest of Africa: Cameroon are not in Nairobi simply to compete. They are here to challenge for the title. The next test against Nigeria could provide an even clearer indication of just how far this team can go.
