The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unanimously reaffirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, giving the embattled football leader a major boost as he faces growing opposition from several football bodies over FIFA’s governance.

The endorsement was announced following a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Rabat, Morocco, where Africa’s football leadership pledged its backing for Infantino ahead of FIFA’s presidential election next year. Following the backlash, FIFA withdrew the proposal, apologised to its member associations and announced a review of its internal decision-making process.
